Triptych: Global Arts Workshop gallery and Sky Art Foundation present ‘URBAN CAVES’, a new series of contemporary ceramics by Yuriy Musatov, a Ukrainian talent with an international portfolio.
The artist’s hand guides us across the otherworldy volcanic topography of Cappadocia, one of the most mysterious regions of the world. With its network of underground cities, tunnels, rock-cut churches, and fairy chimneys, the very ground is an artwork sculpted by an unseen hand.
“Inspiration for this project came in 2015, when I found out about the Cappadocia region in Turkey. And so for three years now I’ve dreamt of visiting the famous Cappadocian caves. I couldn’t make it this year either. There have been many other cities and countries, but Cappadocia remains in my thoughts, she is waiting for me. I think that I’ll visit next year. This is where the title comes from. Caves and contemporary cities, dreams and memories that are one and the same.”
