Fine art, sculpture & photography in the heart of Kyiv since 1988
Marina Shkarupa & Igor Prokofiev
06 – 25.09.2019
Kyiv fine art gallery Triptych: Global Arts Workshop and Kyiv Gallery Weekend present ‘SILENCE’, a joint exhibition by Marina Shkarupa and Igor Prokofiev, which invites the viewer to go beyond the ordinary and embark on an epic journey inward. Marina Shkarupa’s cosmic symphonies shimmer with constellations across polychrome galactic skies. Igor Prokofiev’s arctic landscapes combine grandeur and the touching warmth of fluid lines.
In the words of the artists: “SILENCE is the condition of absolute quiet and calm, which expands into infinite space. It is a time of beginnings and endings, a time of rest far from the madding crowd, a step towards oneself”.
Myroslava Hartmond, gallery director and exhibition curator: “The creative synergy of Shkarupa and Prokofiev is a bright phenomenon in Ukrainian contemporary art. Although their work is different, both favour conciseness, monumentalism, and sensitivity. While Marina conquers the expanse of outer space, Igor explores the icy kingdoms of our planet Earth. Together they discover new worlds outside of time and space”.
